ABSTRACT
The article looks at the challenges facing the plan of Malaysia to be the world's leading biodiesel supplier. High palm oil prices and lower crude oil prices could dent Malaysia's plan, as concerns about short-term profitability surround projects. The licences for biodiesel plants that was approved by the country is estimated to produce 10 million tonnes/year. However, Malaysia's commodities minister Peter Chin revealed that production may reach only 3-3.5 million tonnes/year.
