ABSTRACT
The article informs that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has detailed its plans to use Novell Inc.'s SuSE Linux Enterprise Server as a platform to connect its IT systems. According to Nancy Stewart, chief executive of Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart's plans to deploy Linux would allow it to move to lower-cost commodity servers "without sacrificing performance.Wal-Mart is one of the first companies to benefit from a tie-up between Microsoft Corp. and Novell Inc. Stewart further added that Wal-Mart is assessing the best ways for managing its heterogeneous Windows and SuSE Linux environment.
