ABSTRACT
This article discusses India's new toll free emergency number. The number, 108, was chosen for its importance in Asian cultures. To date, 25 million people are covered by the service which cost Satyam Computer Services $25 million in property costs and $12 million in cash. The nonprofit private company Emergency Management Research Institute plans to cover 76 million people by May of 2007.
