A list of the international and equivalent British standard required for calibration of audio test tapes in Great Britain is presented. These include BJK6M calibration tape which should have reference level of 315 Hertz, followed by the BJLD3 frequency response service test cassette with equalization of 120 to 3180 musecond time and the BASF Test Cassettes 702201 with reference levels of 315 Hertz.

  • Do you calibrate PXI? Rowe, Martin // Test & Measurement World;Mar2008, Vol. 28 Issue 2, p64

The article provides information on the effects of calibrating PXI cards. According to the author, PXI cards present the same calibration problems as their PC-plug-in and VXI bretheren. He added that measurement uncertainty can be affected by the differences in temperature, air flow and EMI. He...

  • Did over-reliance on commercial catch rate data precipitate the collapse of northern cod? Shelton, Peter A. // ICES Journal of Marine Science / Journal du Conseil;Sep2005, Vol. 62 Issue 6, p1139

It has been suggested that a number of “lessons” can be learned from the collapse of the northern cod stock off Newfoundland and Labrador. However, not all purported lessons have been validated with available data. One lesson is thought to be that over-reliance on commercial catch...

  • Using calibration weighting to adjust for nonresponse under a plausible model. Ted Chang; Phillip S. Kott // Biometrika;Sep2008, Vol. 95 Issue 3, p555

When we estimate the population total for a survey variable or variables, calibration forces the weighted estimates of certain covariates to match known or alternatively estimated population totals called benchmarks. Calibration can be used to correct for sample-survey nonresponse, or for...

  • "About a Volt" Isn't Good Enough. Lecklider, Tom // EE: Evaluation Engineering;May2006, Vol. 45 Issue 5, p26

The article focuses on the importance of a standard of known accuracy in calibration. An accurate source of a known voltage was the Weston standard cell. The value of the reference voltage used in calibration work was based on a statistical combination of the voltages from each of the cells in...

Background: The RacerMate Inc. CompuTrainer is an increasingly popular ergometer in Sport Science laboratories, yet there is little information on the characteristics and validity of the CompuTrainer calibration procedure. Aim: To investigate the effect of a range of environmental temperatures...

  • A new approach to weighting and inference in sample surveys.  // Biometrika;Sep2008, Vol. 95 Issue 3, p539

The validity of design-based inference is not dependent on any model assumption. However, it is well known that estimators derived through design-based theory may be inefficient for the estimation of population totals when the design weights are weakly related to the variables of interest and...

  • Calibration Warranty? Cox, Hill // Quality;Aug2006, Vol. 45 Issue 8, p22

The article comments on warranty on calibration services. One reason numbers for a calibration change is because the gage or instrument involved has changed. Another reason is measurement uncertainty, perhaps the most common situation. Unfortunately, a number of people do not comprehend this and...

  • A Calibration Approach towards Reducing ASM2d Parameter Subsets in Phosphorus Removal Processes. Boontian, N. // World Academy of Science, Engineering & Technology;2012, Issue 64, p984

A novel calibration approach that aims to reduce ASM2d parameter subsets and decrease the model complexity is presented. This approach does not require high computational demand and reduces the number of modeling parameters required to achieve the ASMs calibration by employing a sensitivity and...
