ABSTRACT
The article reports on the shift of equity financing of chemical sector mergers and acquisitions (M&A) away from the U.S. in 2006. Young & Partners president Peter Young cites that the equity activity in the country has declined from $5.4 billion in 2005 to $2.2 billion in 2006. He attributes low equity activity in the country to regulatory issues and growth of business activity overseas. It cites the possibility of using junk bonds in debt financing to provide funds for M&A activity.
