ABSTRACT
The article reports that the New Jersey Supreme Court has upheld a ruling by the state's intermediate appeals court over the Mount Laurel Township v. MiPro Homes case. According to the court, a city's use of eminent domain to acquire land for open space, with the intent to slow down residential development, was not improper. In justifying the policy, officials point out that such land is generally less expensive than commercially zoned land and that reducing residential development avoids additional burdens on the township's taxpayers.
