ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the failure to finalize a free trade agreement (FTA) between the U.S. and South Korea. The negotiations on the FTA failed primarily because of differences over trade in textiles and apparel, and farm commodities. South Korea is against increasing imports of rice and other agriculture commodities and is complaining that the U.S. is reluctant to open its markets for textiles and apparel free from a strict rule of origin that would prohibit inputs from non-participating countries.
