ABSTRACT
The article focuses on lower limb muscle strength as a mortality predictor for patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD). It states that muscle mass and strength are independent factors used in predicting the mortality and disability among the elderly. It adds that these factors are common among older people, but changes depending on the physical activity of the individuals. Moreover, it indicates the functional and prognostic importance of muscle wasting in COPD.
