ABSTRACT
The article reports on the increase in silicon wafer shipments in 2006. According to the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International's (SEMI) Silicon Manufacturers Group (SMG), shipments increased by 20% compared to 2005 and revenues grew by 27%. SEMI SMG chairman and Siltronic AG corporate vice president Volker Braetsch attributed the growth to the increased demand for memory products.
