The article reports that the substantial decline in benzene prices in February 2007 has allowed one adipic acid buyer to settle February contracts at an average reduction of €44/tonne, compared with January levels. The benzene settlement was the result of a $120-125/tonne drop in the spot market in January, sparked by weaker crude values and a balanced-to-long benzene market. Buyers countered that it will be difficult for producers to enjoy the entire effect of the benzene price fall.
