ABSTRACT
The article offers news briefs on the chemical industry in Asia. Severe flooding in Java, Indonesia, caused plastics factories in the capital Jakarta to stop or reduce production. The Malaysian Palm Oil Board has appointed Golden Hope Plantations group chief executive, Sabri Abroad, as its new chairman. Mitsubishi Rayon reported a 43.3 percent increase in its nine-month operating income ended December 31, 2006, compared with the previous year.
