This article focuses on Clique.com, an online service that gives publishers in the U.S. the ability to sell products and services advertised in their magazines. Clique.com places its own icons next to print ads that run in magazines; the icons indicate that the reader can visit a URL, also specified in the ad, to purchase the product advertised. The relationships with magazines's advertisers are on a supplier basis. Magazines introduce the service to advertisers for fulfillment and distribution. Or if the magazines want the service developers to deal with the advertisers directly, they will do that. The added benefit of online shopping attracts and retains readers.
