ABSTRACT
The article reports on the effort by U.S. President George W. Bush's administration to reauthorize the No Child Left Behind Act. The current authorization expires Sept. 30, 2007. Critics, including many Democrats, contend that the law is underfinanced. U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings said that funding for programs authorized under the law has increased since the law passed, but many Democrats say that's not enough.
