The article focuses on the benefits of the grooved-mechanical-pipe-joint coupling sound attenuation for piping systems. The unique construction of the coupling allows the gasket to seal against pipe while the ductile-iron housing offers both space for the elastomeric material to flex and containment to prevent overstretching. Each successive joint of mechanical couplings lessens vibration.
