ABSTRACT
The article reports on the implications of strong demand from emerging markets for the earnings of petrochemical companies in the Middle East. Companies that did well in 2006 include Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC), its affiliate, Saudi Arabian Fertilizer Co. (SAFCO), and Saudi International Petrochemical (SIPCHEM), as demand from key market such as China kept prices firm even as crude oil prices eased in the fourth quarter.
