ABSTRACT
The article reports on the plan of the European Commission to simplify cosmetics directive. The Commission has launched a consultation document as it considers simplifying the cosmetics directive. The Commission said that cosmetics were more than just luxury goods, but products of vital importance for the general health, as they included sun screens, toothpastes and soaps. The European market for cosmetic products is said to be worth € 65 billion.
