Thais make MTBE u-turn

The article reports on the move by Thailand to backtrack on controversial plans to ban the octane-boosting additive methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) in gasoline and replace it with a 10% ethanol-blended fuel known as gasohol. The Thai government will allow conventional gasoline to be sold alongside the ethanol blend, or E10, on the forecourts of the country's petroleum stations. The MTBE phase-out was supposed to begin in January 2006.
