ABSTRACT
This article provides information on the Ethernet and intelligent building systems. The article discusses various intelligent building systems including voice over IP (VOIP), converged voice/data networks, wireless LANs, blade servers, power over Ethernet (PoE), and Intelligent Building Systems (IBS). With all of these services, organizations have a vast number of opportunities to reduce cabling and consolidate system management. The author states that the main problem with these new space and cable saving systems comes from the additional power they require and the additional heat they generate, compared with older devices.
