ABSTRACT
The article focuses on technology and networking industry concerns that the use of service oriented architectures (SOA) will mean repercussions in management, devices, and overhead costs. The author speculates about whether or not this is a good thing, as SOA will change enterprise networking and may even phase out the standard of internet protocol (IP). Different uses of SOA include adding applications to what becomes a web page in Web 2.0. The many layers and protocols being developed in accord with SOA should allow for easier access by information technology (IT) professionals, and help businesses maintain network security.
