ABSTRACT
The article discusses a study that determines the effects of atorvastatin and vitamin C on forearm hyperaemic blood flow, asymmetrical dimethyl arginine (ADMA) levels and the inflammatory process in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). The study involved 41 patients with type 2 DM and no proof of macroangiopathy. The findings imply that atorvastatin treatment can be beneficial in low-risk normocholesterolaemic patients with type 2 DM by improving endothelial function and lowering ADMA.
