ABSTRACT
The article provides guidance on the implementation of the auditing standards of the U.S. Public Company Accounting Oversight Board in circumstances in which a company has granted share options to employees. The assumption as to the expected term of the option is one of the key drivers of fair value in the Black-Scholes-Merton formula. Some procedures that an auditor should perform to evaluate the reasonableness of a company's estimate of expected volatility of its share period are enumerated.
