ABSTRACT
The article reports that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has come up with a technology allowing local broadcasting stations to get into the TV-to-the-handset market inexpensively. John Godfrey, vice president of Samsung information systems, said that broadcasters can use current spectrum, they just need an upgrade costing in the range of tens of thousands of dollars. The system, called advanced vestigial sideband broadcasting, is designed to find its market in the U.S.
