ABSTRACT
The article reports on the shortfall of caustic soda in Europe. The incredibly low stock position in Europe continues to play on the minds of caustic soda producers, with many predicting little improvement until the latter half of 2007. Arkema recently added to the long list of supply woes, declaring force majeure on caustic soda and chlorine late in December 2006 after problems sourcing feedstocks in the vinyls chain.
