China gets tough on polluting plants…

The article reports on the administrative punishment set out by the Chinese State Environmental Protection Agency. This follows after it uncovered 82 companies operating plants without the required environmental approval. The 82 plants were scattered in 22 cities, covering 12 industries including steel, metal, power and chemicals. The offending companies included the four big power producers Datang International, Huaneng, Huadian and Guodian, as well as a joint venture involving the French tyre maker Michelin.
