The article cites a study on the treatment of patients with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) of the breast. The study was conducted by researcher N. Bijker and colleagues, and was published in the "Journal of Clinical Oncology." The study was regarding the efficacy of local excision plus radiotherapy over only local excision. The study reported that in women patients with DCIS, radiotherapy after complete local excision reduced the risk for local recurrence after 10 years of follow-up.
