ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the growth of Ranger Steel, a full-line service center, from a low-profile Gulf Coast service center to a plate specialist in the steel plate market in North America. Ron Whitley, president of Ranger Steel, claimed that the company's growth was due its motivation to become distinctly different from other service centers. Whitley added that the growth was also due to the strong financial result caused by the low-value-added approach to plate sales.
