The article relates the findings of a study on the technology deployment decisions of independent grocers in the U.S. The study indicates that a greater trust in the usefulness and reliability of many of today's proposed technology-enabled solutions is prompting more operators to launch innovative programs, like marketing to cell phones or trying loyalty programs to biometric payment systems. Superior service continues to be the greatest differentiator for independents, topping the list at 45 percent.
