The article focuses on the chemical industry in Europe. After an undeniably tough 2006, it seems that the majority of producers in Europe are expecting a very happy New Year. This overriding sense of optimism is supported by suggestions that this year will be less volatile than last, and that buoyant demand and short supply will maintain high prices and decent margins. Olefins producers are not anticipating any major changes during the first half of the year.
