The article assesses the decision of Democrat legislators to create a U.S. version of the registration, evaluation and authorisation of chemicals (Reach) regulation of the European Union. Environmental activists are concerned about safety that is why they are pushing their own version of Reach. Rick Hind, legislative director for Greenpeace US, contends that the adoption of Reach has put the US in the back seat in terms of chemical safety regulations.
