ABSTRACT

While trying to understand the words and actions of the Prophet, it is necessary to take into consideration the importance of the persons, incidents, periods, and places leading him to deliver such words or perform such actions. Terminologically speaking, this is called the context (sabab al-wurud), and in this respect, the Bedouins, who lived in deserts, made significant contributions. The fact Bedouins acted freely in entering the presence of the Prophet, finding courage in asking questions, and not refraining from asking all sorts of questions possibly helped the emergence of verbal and practical Traditions (hadith), i.e., the Sunna, and universal models of behaviors. The purpose of this study is to know the Bedouins better, and to reveal their contributions to the Sunna in terms of context.
