ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to examine the tradition of "seven schools of Qur'anic recitation." In this context, Ibn Mujahid's classification of Qur'anic recitation into seven schools, the basic motives of such classification, and the criticisms of such classification are examined and assessed.
