ABSTRACT
This article presents an intercultural visual encounter on Frida Kahlo's life and identity as an artist and a woman as seen by the U.S. film director Julie Taymor. Kahlo's world is re-contextualized with the help of psychoanalytic theories of transference love and current identity politics.
