The article reports on the launch of the Jeffries Re-Org Index by Jeffries that would identify post-reorganization companies as strong equity performers in the U.S. The 17 companies in the index have returned 234 percent cumulatively from the beginning of 2003 to the end of 2006. According to research analyst Craig Peckham, the objective of the index is to provide some sort of empirical measure of stocks after the companies emerge from bankruptcy.
