ABSTRACT
The article focuses on a study to review the history of locked plates and provide recommendations for future trends in its clinical application. Fixation with conventional compression plates has its limitations. Locked plates have become an attractive alternative to conventional plates as they can be used as "bridge plates" to preserve fragmentary blood supply. Locked plates facilitate two-column support and have been clinically successful in situations in which dual compression plates.
