ABSTRACT
The article explores the use of eucalypts grown in New Zealand. The development of industries utilizing eucalypt timber is still in its infancy in the country. For now, pulp and chip markets are the primary consumer of eucalypt wood fiber, and will remain so for quite some time. A brief history of eucalypt processing in New Zealand is provided. The main groups of importance in New Zealand use are the eastern blue gums, the stringy barks, and the ash group. Majority of eucalypts have a compression core and tensioned outer wood. The process of drying eucalypt timbers is explained.
