ABSTRACT
The article profiles Dean Satchell, newly appointed executive member of the New Zealand Farm Forestry Association. Although he is not a farmer, his interest is in sustainable forestry practices. He often grows eucalypts and cypresses on infested infertile clay county in Northland. He considers himself as a pragmatic and environmentally conscious person. He believes that the association should represent the future of farming and forestry by continuing to plant commercially valuable trees as a sustainable land management practice.
