ABSTRACT
The article considers the role of Six Sigma in electronic commerce. In determining the role of Six Sigma, it is vital to look at some of the key principles involved in Six Sigma. Firstly, it is important to identify the customer and to understand their prioritized requirements. Employers need to ensure that their processes are meeting the consumer requirements. They need to develop a systematic approach to the design and improvement of their processes. Prevention is a key element of a Six Sigma approach and is supported through the use of tools such as the process decision programme chart and failure modes and effects analysis. The most effective and efficient way of achieving quality and maintaining improvement gains is to build prevention into the processes.
