ABSTRACT
Salath (prayer) is one of the important principles of Islam. One of the indispensable principles of salath is Qira'at (recitation). It is declared by the prophet Muhammad that the qira'at can be performed by reciting Soorah al-Fatehah from the Qur'an. Prophet Muhammad himself performed salath by reciting Soorah al-Fatehah and the first followers of the prophet (ashab) keep this procedure. The sensitiveness began in the era of prophet about this procedure took its last form at time of sect leaders (imam). At last, reciting al-Fatehah in performing salath is determined as fard or wadjib. Approval of the reciting al-Fatehah, naturally give rises the importance of necessity of reciting authentically and legitimately. The basic rules about of reciting authentically and legitimately were determined by recitation leader scholars and evidences of those rules were given by sect leaders. In this study, the rules of reciting authentically and legitimately Soorah al-Fatehah are stated.
