ABSTRACT
The article offers news briefs on issues related to the environment. The United Nations Environment Programme is calling for international assistance to pay for the clean-up and rehabilitation of contaminated sites in Ivory Coast. Friends of the Earth and the European Environment Bureau are lobbying the European Parliament to vote against attempts to promote incineration of waste at the expense of recycling and waste prevention. ICI Paints has been presented with the British Coatings Federation's Coatings Care Award.
