ABSTRACT
The article reports that foreign investors in China are considering the coal-to-chemicals bandwagon and local companies are looking to expand into niche markets. ShengdaTech saw sales in the three months ended September 2006 by 10 percent. According to ShengdaTech's chairman and CEO Xiangzhi Chen, coal-based chemicals offer a solution to China's oil shortage problem.
