The article focuses on the statement by Bayer chairman Werner Wenning regarding the impact of the acquisition of German drug maker Schering by Bayer. The consolidation of Schering contributed strongly to the expansion of quarterly sales, and Wenning said the takeover will boost full-year earnings significantly. Overall, Bayer's quarterly earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization, before special items, rose by 39 percent.
