The article presents a discussion on the alleged effects of chocolate on the sexual functions of women specifically on the issue whether chocolate consumption improved sexual health in women. Several research data indicate that chocolate may facilitate peripheral vasodilation in the genitalia which could trigger sexual arousal. Chocolate may also promote the release of endorphins which enhances mood and put people in the right condition for sexual activity. The study conducted by Salonia, Fabbri, Zanni, et al. revealed that sexual desire domain score were higher in women reporting chocolate intake, but when statistical tests were performed to control for age and body mass index the relevance of eating chocolate with increased sexual desire disappeared.
