The article focuses on the category management in the fresh food business. According to Mark Boyer, a senior partner with PMG, LLC, retailers have made excellent inroads with category management practices, which have resulted in improved assortment and sharper merchandising that better reflect customers' wants and needs. As the industry moves into what he considers the second generation of perishables category management, Boyer says trading partners need to engage in more collaboration across the board.
