This article reports that European phthalic anhydride (PA) prices have remained stable in spite of falling raw material costs in 2006. Since the November orthoxylene contract emerged a few weeks ago, PA prices have actually firmed on strong demand and the tight supply. The PA market has been beset by outages at plants in Austria, France, Israel, Slovenia and Sweden in the past few months. Lanxess' PA plant in Krefeld, Germany is also due to shut for a week in December.
