This article reports that German industrial gases giant Linde has agreed to sell part of its U.S. bulk business to the industry gases company Airgas. The eight air-separation plants to be divested had sales of $154 million and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of $55 million in 2005. Linde is selling the business to comply with a condition imposed by U.S. antitrust authority, the Federal Trade Commission, when it approved Linde's acquisition of Great Britain-headquartered rival BOC.
