The article discusses Liberty Media's John Malone, who is dealing to buy cable company DirecTV from News Corp.'s Rupert Murdoch. The author questions why the DirecTV deal, when he claims satellite TV beats cable by being all digital, higher resolution, and performing well with HDTV. Also Wi-Max wireless technology may make cable obsolete. But competitor Dish Network may be ripe for picking, and DirecTV may offer synergies among Liberty's assets.
