Goodyear teams Gemini debut with MLB playoffs

This article reports on the advertising campaign for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company's auto-care program, Gemini, as of October 1999. The advertising pitch will use the Major League Baseball playoffs. Goodyear will begin airing a TV spot combining animation and live segments on October 5, 1999. The advertisement from Hitchcock, Fleming & Associates of Akron, Ohio will run through the baseball playoffs and World Series in October 1999, as well as Nascar race broadcasts, and National Football League and college football. The Gemini program requires dealers to meet standards for training, improved facilities, up-front pricing and nationwide guarantees. Goodyear also will buy personalized ink-jet advertisements in the November 8, 1999 issue of Sports Illustrated, directing readers to the nearest Gemini store. It will run national network radio advertisements in November 1999 and January 2000.
