ABSTRACT
The article discusses the financial shortfall experienced by the author which started when he was nine years old. He got a job going door-to-door selling subscriptions to the "Saturday Evening Post. But as his income grew, so did his needs. The disparity between cash on hand and his needs showed up again in junior high school when he set his sights on a bicycle.
