The article focuses on the use of text messaging in marketing. It identifies several text-message marketing campaigns of business enterprises in the U.S. Marketers seem to choose short message service (SMS) as a way of reaching their customers. Gerry Purdy of Frost & Sullivan stressed the shift of text messaging from person-to-person communication to person-to-company and the possibility of SMS marketing to be the common media in advertising and promotion.
