ABSTRACT
The article discusses toxic shock-like syndrome and Streptococcus suis (S. suis) infection. Pigs are usually the target of S. suis infections but in 2005, two hundred four people in Sichuan, China were infected with S. Suis. In a study by Tang and colleagues on the outbreak in Sichuan, it was said that infected patients have erythematous blanching rashes. The author said that research on the differences between S. suis isolates from China and Europe is needed.
